The 24*7 CCTV-enabled campus is a safe haven for children with a comfortable and home-like environment. The greenery from the lush trees and the serene surroundings makes the facility a comfortable and convenient abode for the children.
Krishna Chaitanya Residential Special School strives to offer an excellent learning experience through a tailored learning environment and the best staff who can help intellectually challenged children with learning and training programs that enable them to reform and transform their life. Around 100 children trained at Krishna Chaitanya Residential Special School have gone back home as supporting members of the family.
The curriculum and learning plans at Krishna Chaitanya Residential Special School are aligned with the prescribed curriculum of NIEPID (National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities). The teaching methods are designed to cater to the needs of intellectually challenged children keeping in mind the standard pace at which they could comfortably learn and grow. The school is adequately equipped with several apparatus and instruments for hands-on learning. Training is also imparted in Yoga, Meditation, Folk Dance, Singing, Bhajans, etc. Children also enjoy games, gardening, and other fun activities.
Vocational training is given to enable children to go home as functioning and supportive family member. The children are given various training to garner vocational skills that can help them and their families later on in life. These include skills such as candle making, chalk making, soft toy making, tailoring, paper covers and greeting card making, gardening, computer operation, etc. These skills are honed over a period of time and help the child tremendously. The goal is for children to be able to live independently with dignity and have vocational skills to live proudly in the community. A subsidy is provided by the government and can be made into a profitable business but the aim is to keep them occupied and engaged.
This new building was inaugurated on 11 06 2022 by Sri S T Somashekar, Hon’ble Minister for Cooperation. Smt Malathi Holla, Arjuna Awardee, released the commemorative volume ‘Divya Chaitanya’ on occasion. The major donors to the building are R L Kamadar from the UK; Sri D U Mallikarjun, MLC; Chairman Sri M Sadashivappa, and many others. This building situated in the Dormitory complex of the Trust and constructed at the cost of ₹1.3 crores is being used for generating Vocational Trainers, conducting Certification courses, and installing equipment for the trained children to work for their living. A move towards more meaningful living for the intellectually disabled.
The in-house staff are well-trained and well-experienced in handling children with intellectual disabilities. The teachers have firsthand experience handling children and caring for them with compassion. The trained teachers are available at the school with the added support of dance masters and art teachers. There are 5 teachers and 8 supporting staff in our residential school to manage 50 mentally challenged children.
Krishna Chaitanya Residential Special School aims at offering a holistic experience where they get to learn and grow with positive experiences and continue to overcome challenges with the appropriate tools and support. Every aspect of the school is tailored to offer personal growth and confidence to take on the world and make a sturdy place for themselves through their newfound skills.
